Stainless steel is an alloy of Iron with a least amount of 10.5% Chromium. Chromium makes a slight coating of oxide on the outer surface of the steel known as the ‘passive layer’. This prevents any additional oxidization of the surface. Increasing the amount of Chromium gives an better resistance to corrosion.
Stainless steel also contains different amounts of Carbon, Silicon and Manganese. Other elements for instance Nickel and Molybdenum may be added to impart other valuable properties such as improved formability and increased corrosion resistance.
Our widespread series of SS Bars includes Stainless Steel Bright Bar, Stainless Steel Rod, Stainless Steel Angle, Stainless Steel Flat, Stainless Steel Hex Bar and many more.
